Mark has over 25 years of logistics experience garnered at a variety of logistics service providers and manufacturers; he is currently the Managing Director of Modalis which is a dynamic logistics consultancy, new to the market place but already making an impact.

Prior to that he was Global Freight and Compliance Manager at Actavis, one of the top, global pharmaceutical manufacturers.

There he was responsible for all aspects of international logistics and consolidation of the supply chain from over 200 transport providers down to just 2.

Additionally, he introduced temperature control to all shipments at no additional cost to the business.




With over 15 years of contact centre management experience within various UK companies, I now head up the UK contact centre for Hermes where I am responsible for leading the team to achieve our vision and targets and also driving improvements to the customer experience , whether that be clients, myHermes shippers or end recipients.

Ian Shellard retired from Rolls-Royce plc in 2013, as Director of Global Physical Logistics, after a 34-year career encompassing roles in Engineering, Business Development, Business and Operations Management. He has since worked as Director at Aqos, a supply chain strategy consultancy, operating both in academia and industry.

He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield School of Management, in Supply Chain and Logistics, and an Honorary Professor of the Nottingham University Business School, Operations Management Faculty.  Ian also serves on the Sheffield University School of Management Advisory Board and the Cardiff University Business School Logistics and Operations Management Advisory Board. He has recently taken an advisory role on the board of a start-up company in the field of humanitarian aid logistics. Ian has a PhD in Physics from The University of Nottingham (1978).  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a Fellow of the Institute of Operations Management, a Member of the Institute of Physics and a Chartered Physicist.

A graduate in Law joining Tibbett & Britten in 1980 enjoying a successful and varied career in Operations, Business Development, International Expansion and as Board Member of both International and UK businesses.
Highlights include:
Taking a lead role in diversification from the traditional Hanging Garment Operation into food and general merchandise with key clients including, Whitbread, Woolworths, B&Q, IBM and Lever Ponds.  1986-1990
Following a period in the Food & Grocery Division (1990-1993) with responsibility for Sainsburys joined the International Division as Development Director in South Africa, including repsonsibilty for Retail Operations and Sales & Development for the shared user network. (1993-1999)
After 7 years in Africa moved to Germany to implement and manage new operations for Walmart on their entry to Europe. On their acquisition of ASDA, took responsibility for the T&B non-food operations in the UK. (1999-2003)
Joined the UK Board, sharing responsibility, for Retail Operations and Development. Customers included, Sainsburys, M&S, B&Q, Iceland, ASDA.(2003-2005)
Prior to the sale to Exel was appointed Country Manager for Australia (2005)
After leaving Exel in 2005 joined John Harvey at Keswick Enterprises.
Responsible for UK Operations, Operational support to Rumania, and Keswick Management Services which provides consultancy, advice and project support.
KMS has undertaken extended consultancy in Eastern Europe and neighbouring regions:
Ukraine for both Retail and Logistics businesses. This has included for Retail, national supply chain strategy, distribution network design, Distribution Centre design, Warehouse Management System selection including the use of Voice Technology. For the Logistics businesses the key tasks include, Operational Improvement and Process Design, Customer Account Management, Service Extension and Commercial arrangements.
Russia; Retail consultancy for end to end supply chain strategy, distribution centre design, container handling, rail operations, systems selection, import management and introduction of internet home delivery and store collect service.
Bulgaria; Retail consultancy and provision of interim management.  DC operations and Transport Management, systems selection, process review and implementation, regional stockholding strategy, import management.
Additional projects include; Turkey, Rumania and Saudi Arabia and China-Europe Rail Service.
